I love my in laws. My mother and father in law are the best you could ask for. My sister in law, on the other hand, while I love her to bits, is driving me NUTS. I know she's only 17 and I remember being 17 and thinking the entire world was set against me but somethings she is a bit ridiculous. The constant arguing with everyone in the house, the constant snarky remarks, the constant blaming other people for crap and the ONE time she snapped at me is proving to be a bit too much. She makes everything small into something major. It's no good talking to her either because she's ALWAYS right, or so she thinks. One minute she's riding on cloud 9 and the next she's wishing death upon foes. I can honestly say that I've never met anyone as dramatic as her.
I think I may try talking to her this weekend. I honestly believe there is something deeper to her anger and maybe she just needs someone to talk to.
My cousin Angie has been doing missionary work for her church in Augusta, Georgia for the last 10 or so years. She's traveled to Venezuela, Thailand and even Africa with their missionary group. Well, I wanted to do something extra special for her this year, for Christmas and since she's a fairly trendy young lady, I figured I would check into some of the new stylish Christian T-shirts over at C28.com. I have to tell you, their selection of apparel is fabulous. Angie would love the "Truth" t-shirt but honestly, this might prove to be a tougher decision than I imagined because there are so many awesome t-shirts to choose from.
If you are looking for Christian T-shirts, may I suggest you start with them, C28.com? They're a Christian t-shirt lifestyle retail who offers an alternative to those typical clothing stores you'll find at your local mall. In fact, they have announced the opening of their new location in Northridge, California which occurred on November 3rd. Go have a look see for yourself. They have a large selection of t-shirts and other apparel to choose from, including jewelry, shoes and stickers.
My oldest sister Connie loves surfing. Of course, living on the Georgia coastline the only time she really gets a chance to is when tropical systems stir up the ocean. The last time she and I spent some time together, she mentioned that she and her boyfriend both needed Surfboard Fins. TheSurfboardWarehouse.com has a fairly large selection of fins to choose from and for those watching their wallets, no worries, the prices are definitely affordable as are the shipping rates. I believe one has a shortboard and one has a longboard, TheSurfboardWarehouse.com has both and then some.
If you are looking for fins, surfboard bags, leashes and more, TheSurfboardWarehouse.com is the place to start your search. You may also be interested in knowing that they have a list of the best shapers in the industry for those of you wanting custom boards.
Life has been pretty busy for the last couple of weeks, and especially so for the last week. Jo's grandmother passed away last Wednesday and her funeral was this past Saturday. Naturally we were all sad but we were all lucky enough to get to say goodbyes and she was able to do the same since she was still in the right "state of mind" days before her passing. We all know she was at peace and that is certainly helping with all of our healing.
I have been busy working on a couple of new projects, some that will not launch for a few weeks but one is already up and running - eyetakepictures.com which is my daily photoblog. My primary goal for this blog is to take and post at least one picture everyday. That may not seem difficult for most people but I have tried this in the past and it can turned into quite the task. Here's hoping though. I'm going to give it a try.
Can you believe, Christmas is right around the corner? It seems like the second school gets underway, all of the holidays just sneak right up on us, doesn't it? I don't know about you but I personally love the giving part of the holidays. But you know, even so, I still try to keep a check on my wallet and stick to a budget as best as possible. How do I do this? Well, normally I would use regular coupons but since I plan to take my holiday shopping to the internet this year, I will be looking for online deals and coupon codes, which I (and you) can find over at Couponchief.com!
Other than the spending aspect, I often struggle with ideas on what to get my loved ones. Luckily, many of my loved ones decided to give me a list - early. My husband is itching for a new pair of Nike sneakers and I managed to find Nike Coupons which will help me buy them within my budget - I can save up to 30% on the Air Equalon for men! My sister in law loves clothes, handbags and generally, anything in pink. She should be fairly easy to shop for them with Delias Coupons. She has already put in a request for a pink sweater, hoodie and of course the handbag, so I am happy to see a coupon for free shipping on anything $75 and more. Either way, I am going to spend that $75 so to get the shipping for free is awesome.
If you are looking for great deals and online coupons, Couponchief.com is the place you need to be. This is a time for giving, not worrying about the money being spent!
Today was a really hard day. Most of you already know about my grandmother's deteriorating health. Well, I called to see how she and my mom, who has been sick with a stomach bug, were doing. My mom was actually doing a lot better today but after she and I talked for a few minutes, she handed the phone to my grandmother. I was a little surprised that my grandmother knew who I was at first but within a couple of minutes, that all changed. She started talking all kinds of crazy (she has Alzheimer's by the way). I know this is normal with her illness but it is so heartbreaking to hear someone whom you love dearly, talk like that. She is smart as a pistol, or used to be. Now she is bedridden and barely knows who anyone is anymore, including herself. She was telling me that I was cursing and yelling when I had barely said two sentences to her. After I said "Who's yelling and cursing?", she told me "You are and I don't like it. I am putting you in a corner.." My mom got tickled about it but I really think she wants to break down and cry. I know I would if it were her, my mother.
It just seems like it gets harder and harder. I know she is dying. I know she will not be with me forever but that does not seem to make me want to accept it any faster.
My mom is putting up Christmas decorations, including the tree, this weekend so that my grandmother will have a chance to enjoy them. I asked why so early and my mom told me it was because they did not expect my grandmother to make it all the way through Christmas. I will definitely be going home for a visit soon. I will never forgive myself if she passes away before I get back.
Though we do not have that much, we still have so much packing to do. Most of our things consist of clothes, shoes and of course, my handbags but we also have to figure out the furniture thing. We are not sure at this point if we are going to bother with a Uhaul or not but if we decide against it, we have to figure out what to do with our larger furniture. The desks and chairs will be fine. All we will have to do is take them apart and put them back in their boxes. No worries about those at all. There is just so much to think about and only about 3 weeks to figure it all out. Yikes!
Jo will have his last session of physiotherapy on October 9th, so we are looking at a "move" date of about the 11th or 12th. I cannot even begin to tell you about how excited I am about living near his family, especially his mom and grandparents. I was so worried that Christmas was going to be a big depressing mess. Not now though. It is going to be great, I just know it!
My husband's maternal grandfather was a quartermaster back in the day and even to this day, loves being out on the water. We were brainstorming ideas for a possible gift for him, since Christmas is just around the corner and both agreed that we cannot go wrong with anything for his boat, or anything nautical even. I think he would love to have one of those nautical clocks. I was just showing some of these to my husband and we both really love one of the ship wheel clocks with the mahogany base. This is really fitting for him because as a quartermaster, he was responsible for navigation and such and now, on his own boat as "captain", he is still in charge of navigation and such.
There are also other accessories that I think Bram (the grandfather) would love. Things like barometers, boat covers and even radios. What a great place for people who are looking for nautical accessories for themselves or as a gift for a loved one (like we are doing). I will have to keep this site in mind as the holidays draw near!
First and foremost, be warned, this entry will be all over the place!
Do any of you watch Gene Simmons Family Jewels? I absolutely love this show! His kids crack me up, especially Nick! They seem to have a great relationship (parents/kids)! I watched nearly every episode of the marathon today!
Today was pretty uneventful. I napped, which is becoming more and more normal for me and then we went out for a little “Canada Day” dinner. Nothing special, really but it was nice! Now I’m just sitting here with both fans blasting on me because it’s so hot and miserable right now! I complain about the heat a lot, don’t I? If you didn’t know any better, you’d think I was actually planted in the SE Georgia area right now, huh? I feel their pain and while it isn’t that hot (Southern hot), it feels like it sometimes because there is no AC! My butt is sticking to my seat, how annoying?!
I am really looking forward to getting back to Georgia though! I’m still not sure where we’re going to settle (Georgia or Newfoundland) but either way, just to be near family / loved ones is enough to make me happy! I can’t wait to see my mom, dad, sister and nephews! I’ll be there around the time of Trent and Landon’s birthday, so we’re going to try to do a big bbq the first weekend we’re down, and probably along with a pool party at my Aunt’s! I’m also looking forward to seeing Jo’s family again, I really miss them! Sometimes I think I miss them more than my own immediate family, which I guess is because I just felt like I didn’t have enough time with them! I’m sitting here going through all of the pictures I took in Newfoundland and the ones I took on our trip up here! I don’t think I ever posted any of these! I’ll have to do that later tonight!
As you can see, there’s a new theme up. The pink became, well, too pink for me! I’ll keep it in my “vault” in case I ever get another wild-hair on my head and decide to go with something pink-pink again! I doubt it’s going to be any time soon. I’m actually really loving this theme, and quite a bit more than the previous one!
Anyway! There’s about 12 hours left in my contest, so you best get your submissions entered now!!! CONTEST TIME! Thank you to those of you who have already submitted!
Half asleep, staring up at the ceiling and counting the little glow in the dark stars I placed there in high school (for the record, they weren’t glowing, it was 9am lol)… my sense of smell picks up on something!! Something that smells sort of sweet, yet sort of salt too. I decided to go ahead and get up to see what this “smell” was. As I open the bedroom door, I realize it’s Jo cooking. I proceed to the edge of the stairs, where I hear him moving around in the kitchen, as he’s cooking. I thought I heard him say something but further reviews makes me realize that he’s not “talking”, he’s humming. But what, you ask? The theme to Sanford and Son!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahaha! If there ever was a dork…
I’m supposed to be going shopping today, with my sister Nikki! I found some adorable capri’s that were marked down to $11.99 and an additional 40% off. I also need to keep looking for some pants, I’m on a mission for a black pair! Hrmf! I found some cute Tommy flip flops too, I know it’ll be a while before I can wear them but they’re on sale at The Shoe Dept, for $11!!
Anyway!
I’m going to go help finish with cooking breakfast! We’re making pork & bacon with egg, stuffed in crescent rolls! mmmm!!! I also need to get cracking on a caramel cake for my sister! I made one last night but Jo couldn’t resist and dove right into it! ;]
